Sault police pull body out of St. Marys River
Sault Ste. Marie police say the coroner's office has taken over the investigation after police found a body in the St. Marys River near the marina on Pine Street.

"At this time, no further information will be provided by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service as another agency is leading the investigation," police said in a news release.
A concerned citizen called 911 about the situation around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said in a news release.
"Officers were dispatched to the scene and have confirmed there is a deceased person in the river," police said.
There is a heavy presence of police and first responders near the marina.

"The coroner's office is now investigating the incident reported this morning," police said in an update Wednesday afternoon.
"At this time, no further information will be provided by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service as another agency is leading the investigation."

HOMICIDE AND STABBING LAST WEEK
This comes as Sault police continue to investigate two other violent incidents that happened in the city last Thursday.
A 25-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder in connection to a stabbing around 1 p.m. Sept. 7. on the waterfront, about three km west of where the body was pulled out of the river Wednesday.

Police said the stabbing victim and accused are not known to each other.
Later that evening, around 5 p.m., officers were called to the scene of a homicide at a John Street apartment.

Police said in a news release Tuesday they have identified a suspect in the death of 22-year-old Taylor Marshall but have not released any details about them.

There is no indication that any of the three crimes are related.
