SUDBURY -- The Sault Ste. Marie Police officer who was involved in a collision with another vehicle earlier this week has been charged.

In a news release Wednesday, Sault police said the officer has been charged with failing to stop for a red light. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision, which took place Aug. 4.

The incident took place at the intersection of Pine Street and Wellington Street East. Police were responding to a call about a woman driving erratically on her bike.

The woman they were pursuing hopped into another vehicle and sped away before getting into yet another collision.
