Sault police looking for tips on wanted man

Police in Sault Ste. Marie are asking the public for tips to help them find a man wanted on 10 different criminal charges, including assault with a weapon and extortion.

As part of a weekly appeal to the public called 'Wanted Wednesday', Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma released a photo of 26-year-old Austin James Moar saying he is wanted by police.

Moar is charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, extortion, uttering threats, causing a disturbance, mischief, failing to attend court, failing to comply with recognizance and two counts of failing to attend for fingerprints.

"If you know where we can find the 'Wanted Wednesday' individual please call the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at (705) 949-6300 or if you wish to remain anonymous and potentially collect a cash reward please call Crime Stoppers at (705) 942-7867 or 1-800-222-8477," the news release said.

Tips can also be submitted online or through the P3 app.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
