A 24-year-old man is charged with assault causing bodily harm along with other offences after Sault police received a call about an assault incident in the 100 block of James Street last month.

“The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was transported to hospital,” said police in a news release Friday.

“An investigation revealed the victim was out for a walk alone when the accused, who is known to them, assaulted them by kicking and punching them.”

The initial incident occurred on July 28 and detectives with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested the suspect on Aug. 15 in the 100 block of Adrian Drive.

As a result of the investigation, the 24-year-old man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with probation orders along with the charge of assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
