Sault man charged for using 'large sticks' to smash windows, doors

Sault Police have charged a 45-year-old with three counts of mischief after reports of windows and doors being smashed in the city’s downtown last week.
Officers were dispatched to the 200 and 300 blocks of Queen Street East around 1 p.m. on Sept. 3 after several 911 phone calls were received by dispatchers.
Police said located a person who matched the description of the suspect in the 300 block of Wellington Street East a short time later.
"An investigation revealed the accused had used large sticks to smash glass doors and windows at one multi-unit residence building and two businesses," said the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in a news release.
The local man has been charged with three counts of mischief under $5,000.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
