SUDBURY -- A suspicious person complaint led to the discovery of property taken from recent break and enters in Sault Ste. Marie, police said Monday.

Police first encountered the man May 23 at 10 p.m. after police received a complaint about someone on Dominion Park Road west in Thessalon.

"Police arrived a short time later and dealt with a 49-year-old person from Sault Ste Marie," the East Algoma OPP said in a news release. "In the vehicle the person was driving was stolen property from recent break and enters in the area."

Then on June 6, shortly after 10:30 a.m., police responded to a report about a stolen vehicle on McFadden Drive in the Municipality of Huron Shores.

"Upon arrival, officers observed the driver getting out of the suspect vehicle," the release said. "The driver was the same person from the May 23, 2020, occurrence and was subsequently arrested."

The man faces the following charges as a result of the May 23 and June 6 incidents:

- Break and enter

- Three counts of possessing property under $5,000 obtained by crime

- Failure to comply with an undertaking

- Driving while using plates not authorized for the vehicle.

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail Court in Blind River on June 7.
