Sault man arrested for spraying bear mace at neighbours
A 30-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning for allegedly spraying bear mace during a strange altercation at a multi-residential complex in Sault Ste. Marie, the week before.
The incident began on Aug. 22 at about 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 22, when a resident of the complex called 911 to report a number of people attempting to break into a unit in the building.
“Officers were dispatched to the building,” said the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release.
“An investigation revealed other residents in the building had just been carrying in furniture and there had been no attempted break and enter.”
Police said their investigation revealed that the accused had sprayed bear mace under a door, causing minor injuries to one person.
“They were transported to hospital,” said Sault police.

The man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and administering a noxious thing.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
None of the accusations has been proven in court.
