Sault College supports Harvest Algoma
The Sault College Students' Union is donating $20,000 to Harvest Algoma in an effort to bolster local food security.
The president of the student union said Harvest Algoma has been an invaluable partner in the past.
"Especially during the pandemic when all the restaurants were shutting down and they had to get rid of their food," said Katherine Filion.
"They all gave it to Harvest Algoma or other community partners, and we were able to gather much more food and donations than we otherwise would have been able to."
Since Harvest Algoma was instrumental in keeping Sault College's food bank stocked during the pandemic, Filion said it was time to repay them.
In addition to the monetary donation, Sault College will also be helping out Harvest Algoma with meal preparation.

"Our culinary students will be participating in food preparation and other activities to help support the Harvest Algoma endeavour," said Sault College president David Orazietti.
"That's about 25 to 30 students per week, looking at roughly 25 to 30 hours as these students go through this rotation to support Harvest Algoma."
