Sault-area teacher faces February discipline hearing
An inactive teacher from the Sault Ste. Marie area is headed to a discipline hearing in February for incidents that date back as early as 2003.
The Ontario College of Teachers will hold the hearing in the case of Joseph Francois-Mario Vallieres, who worked for the French Catholic school board in the area.
The allegations include incidents in the 2002-2004 school years, as well as the period between 2019 and 2021.
The most disturbing are from February 2019 when he told a student, “You don’t know how much I love you, you don’t know how much I miss you.”
He also grabbed her buttocks one or more times.
The oldest allegation took place in the 2003 school year when he bought a present for a female student’s birthday.
In 2019, he’s alleged to have grabbed a student by the arm to get him to leave the classroom.
The following month, he is alleged to have made a series of inappropriate comments, including, “If there are any punks in this class, you can just leave now,” and “Yeah, that’s a threat.”
The full list of allegations can be found here. The hearing will be held Feb. 5.
