Saturday night stabbing in Sudbury leaves one in hospital

A Sudbury-area teen is recovering in hospital after a stabbing last night in the community of Coniston.

The incident occurred near Allan Street Saturday evening and involved a small bladed weapon.

Staff Sergeant Sherry Young, with the Greater Sudbury Police Service, told CTV News the victim is in hospital with “serious non-life-threatening injuries.”

The incident is still under investigation.

Young said police have a suspect and intend to proceed with charges.

Officials have confirmed the two individuals were known to each other and there is no threat to public safety.
