Rural northern Ont. emergency department to reopen
The Blanche River Health (BRH) emergency department at its Englehart site is set to reopen Thursday evening.
BRH had announced Tuesday that the emergency department would be closed until further notice due to a physician shortage.
“The emergency department at the Englehart site of Blanche River Health will reopen at 6 p.m. today (Thursday), following a temporary closure,” said BRH officials in a news release.

“We recognize the impact of a temporary ED closure,” said VanSlyke.
“We remain committed to leaving no stone unturned as we continue to attract and recruit more physicians to our area.”
BRH is a 74-bed hospital corporation with two sites serving the northeastern Ontario communities of Englehart and Kirkland Lake as well as residents in surrounding areas.

During the two day closure patients with directed to the emergency department at BRH’s Kirkland Lake site as well as the emergency room at the Temiskaming Hospital in New Liskeard – both being a more than 30-minute drive from the Town of Englehart.
