A ride-sharing service that is currently in several northern Ontario cities is now expanding to Timmins.
U-ride hopes to begin operations there later this month and the company is now looking for drivers.
Driver requirements:
- 25 years of age or older
- 3 years of driving experience and a full G class licence
- Must have less than 6 demerit points and cannot have 4 or more in a single incident
- Cannot have a criminal record
Vehicle requirements:
- 4 doors and at least four passenger seats
- Mechanically fit without any cosmetic damage
- 10 years old or newer with less than 250,000 kms
Officials say people in Timmins want the ride-sharing service due to what they call "transportation challenges in the city."
U-ride started in Thunder Bay two years ago and has since expanded to Sudbury, North Bay and Sault Ste. Marie.
