SUDBURY -- Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers, in conjunction with the Greater Sudbury Police Service, are seeking the public’s help in solving a suspicious fire and explosion June 23 in Blezard Valley.

Crime Stoppers is offering a guaranteed $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, as long as they receive the information before Oct. 26.

Shortly after 1 a.m. that morning, an explosion occurred at a residence on Menard Street, engulfing the home in flames and causing extensive damage. No one was injured.

"Prior to the incident, a lone suspect was observed attending the area operating a motorized sport bike," Crime Stoppers said in a news release. "The same suspect was observed leaving the area minutes later."

Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are hoping the public can help them gather information about the incident and to identify the person seen on a motorbike in front of the house at that time.

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service "are convinced someone has information that would solve this crime," the organization said in a news release. "A guaranteed minimum $1,000 reward is being offered for tips received by Crime Stoppers before midnight on Oct. 26 that lead to the arrest of the person who committed this crime."

The $1,000 reward would be divided if multiple tips that lead to an arrest are received. For tips received after the deadline, the standard process for determining reward amounts will apply.
