SUDBURY -- The province held an awards night earlier this week in Toronto to honour college graduates around Ontario for contributing to the growth of the economy and improving lives.

Sault Ste. Marie MP and Minister of Colleges and Universities, Ross Romano, presented the awards.

As part of the celebration, a Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Sudbury educator Sonia Del Missier for her 39-year career at Cambrian College.

Del Missier retired from the college in 2017, where she held many positions, including vice president of academic.

She was also recognized for her active community involvement.

"Throughout her career, Sonia has been tireless in her commitment and dedication to the students of Cambrian College. She has always been an ambassador of Ontario's college system, and over her nearly 40-year career at Cambrian, she has held many positions and had a tremendous impact on the college, the local community, and the postsecondary education sector," said Romano.
