In North Bay, a string of recent robberies has left police with more questions than answers.

Over the last month, police say they have responded to half a dozen home invasions.

Around 4 am Tuesday morning, police say multiple people made their way into a home on McIntyre Street in the downtown area.

Police say a female victim was forced to the ground and a male assailant demanded she hand over money.

"She told him where it was. The money was taken. Approximately $170 dollars of Canadian cash was taken and then they left the residence on foot." said special Constable John Schultz, of North Bay Police Service.

Since August 30th, police have responded to six break and enters in all different parts of the city.

While this has left some people speechless, others are also left asking why?

Some North Bay residents had this to say to CTV News:

“Who are the people that are causing these issues and what's the actual issue underlying that? Is it something to do with mental health and addictions? Is it that people are really in desperate need of money and this is the only thing that they can do? Like what is the underlying problem and

How do we go about fixing that?”

“Yes, that is very concerning. I don't even know what to say, I don't even know what to say.”

Police say a number of these incidents have been a result of unlocked doors and windows.

“Lock it up. Make yourself less of a target. A lot of these crimes are crimes of opportunity. If you're keeping things locked, you're not going to be a victim.” said Schultz.

At this time police do not find any of the break and enters to be related, but do ask anyone with information to contact investigators or to call crime stoppers anonymously.
