Provincial police investigate disturbance in northern Ont. community of Chapleau

Ontario Provincial Police advised they had concluded their investigation in the Town of Chapleau shortly before 3:30 p.m.
"The OPP had numerous resources on scene during the investigation and appreciate the public's cooperation in refraining from the area," said police in an updated news release.
OPP had asked the public to stay away from a Chapleau neighbourhood early Saturday morning, originally advising the public of the heightenedpolice presence in the area on social media shortly before 6 a.m.
Police said, in their initial news release shortly after 9:30 a.m., that members of Superior East OPP were called to a disturbance at a residence in the community at about 3 a.m.
As of early Saturday afternoon, a heavy police presence remained in the area of Aberdeen Street between Cedar Street and Burch Street.
“The OPP have numerous resources on scene to assist with the investigation,” said police.
“Although there is no threat to public safety, motorists and residents are urged to avoid the area to allow police to safely carry out their duties.”
Police have not released any details as to the nature of the disturbance or if there have been any injuries.
CTV News has contacted the provincial police for more information about the incident but has yet to receive a response.
