Provincial police bust a pair of stunt drivers on Hwy. 69 on Boxing Day
Two drivers were stopped by provincial police for stunt driving on Highway 69 on Boxing Day.

Both drivers were travelling more than 50 km/h over the posted limit and were charged with stunt driving and speeding.

“(On) Dec. 26, 2024, Nipissing West OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) conducted two separate vehicle stops for stunt driving on Highway 69, south of Sudbury,” said police in a social media post.
“A 32-year-old driver from Newmarket was traveling 163km/h, while a 21-year-old from Sudbury was traveling at 161km/h.”

Both vehicles were travelling in a posted 110km/h zone.
In addition to the charges both drivers also received 30-day driver’s licence suspensions and the vehicles involved were impounded for 14 days at the owner’s expense.

Court-imposed penalties for stunt driving may include a fine of up to $10,000, a driver’s licence suspension of up to three years and/or up to six months in jail. In Ontario, drivers face a minimum first-time fine for stunt driving of $2,000 upon conviction.
None of the accusations has been proven in court.
“Slow down (and) drive safe,” said police.
