Propane tank explosion sends one to hospital in West Nipissing
One person from Quebec was taken to hospital after a propane tank exploded last weekend at a campground in northern Ontario.
The incident took place Aug. 3 around 6:30 p.m. at a campground on Lalandre in West Nipissing.
“A propane tank had accidentally exploded, causing damage to the camper trailer and a 65-year-old-person from Beloeil, Que., was transported by EMS to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Tuesday.

“The OPP would like to remind the public that propane is highly flammable. A leak or improper handling can lead to an explosion, which can cause severe injuries, property damage, or even fatalities.”
It’s important to ensure propane tanks are stored and used in well-ventilated areas away from open flames or sparks, police said.
