SUDBURY -- A preliminary hearing is underway at the Sudbury courthouse in connection with the alleged stabbing of three people, leading to one death. 

It happened at a party outside a residence on Levesque Street, off the Kingsway in Sept. of 2018.

21-year-old Tyler Sels faces eight charges including second-degree murder.

According to police, 27-year-old Charles St. Jean succumbed to stab wounds, and two others were treated at hospital for stabbing injuries.

A court-imposed publication ban on evidence presented during the trial is in place.

The hearing got underway Monday and is scheduled to last 15 days.

It will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
