SUDBURY -- Power has been restored to all but 21 customers following a pole fire in the Minnow Lake area.

Greater Sudbury Hydro said in a tweet early Tuesday evening it would take about four hours before everyone has power again.

Greater Sudbury Hydro said Tuesday afternoon a pole fire knocked out power to 1,600 homes in the Minnow Lake area. Power has been restored to most areas, but about 500 people are still without electricity.

The fire broke out on a pole on Bancroft Drive, the GSU said in a tweet, affecting areas from Birmingham into the Moonlight beach area.

"Working to restore remaining customers in the next 45 mins," the tweet said.
