Powassan resident killed in three-vehicle crash in Bonfield

SUDBURY -- North Bay Ontario Provincial Police say a 20-year-old resident from Powassan was killed Nov. 7 in a three-vehicle collision in Bonfield.

Blake Keown was heading east on Highway 17 around 7 p.m. when police said the vehicle collided head-on with a westbound dump truck.

 "The dump truck then lost control, veering into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle," the OPP said in a news release.

Keown was pronounced dead at the hospital. Three people from the pickup truck received minor injuries, while the driver of the dump truck was uninjured.

"The investigation is continuing into the cause of the collision with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner and OPP Traffic Collision Investigators," police said. "A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at a later date."

Highway 17 was closed for investigation until around 3:15 a.m.
