Ontario Provincial Police are reminding the public to be cautious after a snow machine went through the ice earlier this week in Elliot Lake.

No one was injured when the machine fell into 12-15 feet of water. Crews were able to pull it out the same night, police said.

“East Algoma OPP urge the public to stay off lakes and waterways until cold weather returns,” police said on X.

“Despite all the public messaging about unsafe ice conditions, people are still people pushing the limits. Don't pay the price for sledding on thin ice!”
