Police seize crack cocaine destined for northwestern Ont. community

A resident of Lasalle, Que., and two residents of a First Nation in northwestern Ontario have been charged after police stopped a vehicle headed north on Thursday.
Special units with the Ontario Provincial Police and Thunder Bay OPP stopped the vehicle on Highway 527.
“The accused were on their way to Armstrong and Whitesand First Nation,” the OPP said in a news release Friday.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 47 grams of crack cocaine, a cellphone and a spring-loaded knife. Two of the suspects, ages 37 and 40, are from Whitesand First Nation, while the Quebec resident is 30.
The trio were charged with drug trafficking, while the Quebec suspect was also charged with weapons offences and breach of probation.
The accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
