Drugs found during a northern Ont. traffic stop Tuesday led police to a stash at a Kirkland Lake home and to lay charges against two local people.

Officers pulled a vehicle over on Highway 112 in Pacaud Township shortly after 7:30 p.m. July 16, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

The driver was arrested and police found drugs while searching the vehicle.

As part of the investigation, officers from several units also searched a home on Tweedsmuir Road in Kirkland Lake where suspected cocaine and methamphetamine were seized along with a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia.

"The total estimated street value of the seizure was $130,000," OPP said.

A 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman are both charged with drug trafficking cocaine, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm and possession of a loaded restricted firearm.

The woman is also charged with a second count of trafficking cocaine and for trafficking methamphetamine.

Both accused were held in custody for a bail hearing July 17.
