An 18-year-old has been charged after a woman caught sight of an intruder inside her residence late in the evening July 13 in North Bay.

It turned out the suspect had a revolver loaded with a blank in his bag, as well as illegal drugs.

The incident took place around 10:30 p.m. when the woman, who was outside, noticed someone was in her home.

“The victim and a witness entered the residence and a physical altercation between them and the accused occurred,” North Bay police said in a news release Monday.

“During the altercation, the victim and witness seized a handgun that the accused had in a bag on his person. The accused then fled the location.”

Police found him not far from the woman’s residence and he was arrested.

A search uncovered the handgun, as well as drugs police believe to be a gram of cocaine, three oxycodone pills and five hydromorphone pills.

The suspect faces a dozen charges, including weapons and ammunition offences, break and enter and drug possession.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
