Police say Sudbury suspect pulled out knife in Hwy. 17 road rage incident

A 38-year-old from Sudbury has been charged following a road rage incident March 15 on Highway 17 near Espanola.

Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police responded at 9 p.m. to a report of an assault with a weapon in Nairn-Hyman Township.

“It was reported that two vehicles had been involved in a road rage incident and stopped at the same truck stop,” the OPP said in a news release Tuesday.

“One driver brandished a knife and lunged at the other driver after being confronted. Police were able to locate the vehicle and arrest the driver.”

The accused has been charged with weapons possession, assault with a weapon, following a commercial vehicle too closely and having improper plates.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 6.
