A 30-year-old man from North Bay who was already on probation has been charged with new theft-related offences.

The latest charges follow an incident Wednesday when the accused took a cab to Cassells Street, but only paid the driver a portion of the fare, claiming he had to go get the rest.

“After exiting the cab, the accused made no attempt to return and pay the remainder of the fare,” police said in a news release Thursday.

“Instead, after exiting the cab, the accused entered a business, walking through the business to an exterior area where a trailer was located.”

Once inside the trailer, the suspect refused requests to leave and began taking things.

Police arrived and located the accused inside the trailer “at which point he was arrested and charged,” police said.

Charges include transportation fraud, break and enter and violating a probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
