Police observe alleged drug deal in northwestern Ont., two arrested, Percocet, hydromorphone, methamphetamine seized
Two individuals from northwestern Ontario are facing several charges related to drug trafficking after some “keen observations” by police on Friday.
Shortly after 2 p.m. on March 15, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers with Kenora’s street crime unit observed a drug transaction between two persons near the city courthouse, police said in a news release.
“Police arrested the individual that presented the drugs and a search resulted in several hundred hydromorphone, multiple Percocet tabs and methamphetamine individually packaged,” said police.
“A large amount of Canadian currency was also seized in relation to these charges.”
The OPP estimated the total value of the seized drugs as approximately $15,000.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man from Kenora, Ont. have each been charged with three counts of drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime. The woman also faces one additional drug trafficking charge.
The 42-year-old was released and is scheduled to appear in court on April 11.
The 34-year-old remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
