Police investigating fatal hit-and-run collision on Hwy. 17 near Bruce Mines

The Ontario Provincial Police are looking for information related to a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run on Highway 17 west of Bruce Mines on Friday evening.

On Jan. 20, shortly after 9 p.m. the OPP responded to a collision which killed a pedestrian on Highway 17 near Green Bay Road and Boundary Road in Plummer Additional Township, west of Bruce Mines.

“The name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification,” said police, in a news release Sunday.

The highway was closed until after 2 p.m. Saturday as a result of the collision.

OPP officers under the direction of their Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the coroner’s office, are continuing to investigate the incident.

“Officers are looking for possible dash cam footage from anyone who may have been traveling on Highway 17 near Green Bay Road, west of the Town of Bruce Mines,” police said.
