The 24-year-old was charged after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a parked car in the early morning hours on Thursday.

Shortly after 2 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle parked that was still running at a business on Front Street in West Nipissing, police said in a news release Monday.

“The driver was found sleeping behind the wheel and was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing,” said police.

As a result of the testing and investigation, the driver faces two impaired driving charges along with the additional charge of failing to comply with an undertaking.

In addition to the charges, the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days by police and the accused also received a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court in North Bay on June 6.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.

“OPP would like to remind the public that if you see a possible impaired driver on our roadways, waterways or trails, please ‘Make the Call,’ and dial 911 as impaired driving never ends well,” said police.

“Plan a way to get home safely.” Top Stories
