Two people from Cochrane were arrested early Sunday morning after police interrupted a suspected break-and-enter.

“Shortly before 3:00 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a break and enter in progress, on Concession 2&3 in the town of Cochrane,” police said in a news release Sunday.

The OPP said, officers located two people they found to be unlawfully in the residence.

“During the arrest, police located a small amount of suspected fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine,” said police.

The 34-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were arrested and charged with breaking and entering.

The woman is also facing two additional charges for drug possession – she is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The man was released and is scheduled to appear in court on May 2 to answer to the charge.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
