SUDBURY -- As many in northeastern Ontario woke up to snow on the ground, Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory due to heavy snow near the Parry Sound area, south of Sudbury, Wednesday.

If you are travelling south from the Sudbury area, the Ministry of Transportation is reporting Highway 69 is bare until just past Pointe au Baril Wednesday morning.

A winter storm system is expecting to bring heavy snow at times with additional snowfall of 2 – 4 centimetres from Burk's Falls and Bayfield Inlet to the Barrie, Orillia and Midland areas.

"Travel is expected to be impacted due to moderate to heavy snow, particularly on Highway 400 and Highway 11," said Environment Canada. "Motorists should be prepared for winter weather driving conditions."
