SUDBURY -- The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) reported a new positive case of COVID-19 in Hearst/Hornepayne on Sunday.

The individual was exposed through ‘contact of a case’ and is self-isolating.

The new case comes just days after enhanced public health measures were issued in the area and while the town’s mayor, Roger Sigouin, pleaded with residents to follow the guidelines.

There are currently 7 active cases in the PHU district; all of them in Hearst/Hornepayne, and 10 of the last 12 reported by PHU also coming from the area.

This marks the 99th case reported by the PHU since the pandemic began.

If you think you may have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has it, first self-isolate and complete the on-line COVID-19 Self-Assessment to determine your next steps.
