SUDBURY -- A hunter was airlifted to Health Sciences North on Oct. 27 after being shot accidently.

The incident took place at 12:35 p.m. off of Musky Road in St. Charles, Warren Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Thursday.

"Investigation revealed the victim managed to drive to a nearby residence for help," police said. "The individual was airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries."

After an investigation, police have deemed the incident to be a hunting accident, the release said.

"Therefore, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has taken over the investigation with the assistance of the Nipissing West OPP," police said.

The investigation is continuing.
