SUDBURY -- The Timmins Police Service is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred around 10:35 p.m. on June 28.

The pedestrian was taken to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance for treatment for life-threatening injuries and has since been transported to a Sudbury area hospital, police said in a news release Monday.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Cedar Street and Algonquin Boulevard where the driver of an SUV struck a 53-year-old man, who sustained life-threatening injuries.

"As a result of the investigation, traffic flows in the immediate area of the intersection were rerouted for a number of hours to allow for Timmins police traffic section officers and forensic identification officers to complete a thorough evidence appraisal and scan of the collision scene," police said.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and provide information to help with the investigation.
