Pedestrian killed in motor vehicle collision in downtown Sudbury intersection

Greater Sudbury Police Service is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a motor vehicle Sunday evening.

Just before 6 p.m., GSPS advised of the crash in a tweet.

The collision happened in the eastbound lane of Minto Street at the Brady Street intersection.

About 10 minutes later, GSPS tweeted an update.

“Intersection Brady Street at Minto Street closed,” said police in the tweet.

“Please find an alternative route.”

In another update just after 7:30 p.m., police said officers were on the scene of “a fatal pedestrian collision” and that the driver involved had remained at the scene following the collision.

The Traffic Management Unit of GSPS is investigating.

When CTV News arrived on the scene, the forensic investigation was already underway.

The road reopened shortly after midnight.
