Pedestrian in the Sault charged following collision with a vehicle Thursday morning

A pedestrian trying to cross Great Northern Road was hit by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Sault Ste. Marie.

Sault Ste. Marie Police said the collision took place around 5;20 a.m. The pedestrian is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"The pedestrian was charged with disobeying a 'don’t walk' signal under the Highway Traffic Act," police said in a news release.

"The driver of the vehicle did not sustain physical injuries. Police are not releasing the identities of those involved."

Anyone who may have dash cam footage or surveillance footage, or may have witnessed the collision, is urged to call Sgt. Joe Poderys at 705-949-6300, ext. 348.
