SUDBURY -- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the Matheson detachment closed Highway 11 south of Matheson, Ont. yesterday due to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle.

In a tweet published at 5:25 a.m. on April 10, police confirmed the highway was closed in both directions but had released few other details. Officals later confirmed they were called to the scene just after 4:30 a.m.

In a news release issued late Saturday night, police confirmed the collision took place in Bowman Township and that one driver was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The official twitter account for the Ministry of Transportation later confirmed the closure is between Highway 101 and Highway 572 and a detour had been setup along these routes. 

A detour for commercial vehicles had been setup along Highway 101 and Highway 672.

The section of highway was cloased for approx. 10 hours. The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team (T.I.M.E.) is now assisting with the investigation which remains active.
