SUDBURY -- Police arrested and charged a 36-year-old Parry Sound man with several child pornography offences Thursday following an online sexual exploitation investigation.

Officers with the provincial child sexual exploitation unit, digital forensics and West Parry Sound detachment searched a home in Parry Sound and seized multiple electronic exhibits, police said in a news release on Friday.

The 36-year-old man is charged with:

  • Luring a child
  • Indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age
  • Making child pornography
  • Making available child pornography
  • Possession of child pornography

The accused is scheduled for a bail hearing Friday.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.

"Parents are reminded to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by speaking with their children regarding internet safety," said police.

Anyone with information about this investigation or other internet child exploitation is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477. Reports can also be made online for the following:

  • Content believed to be child sexual abuse (images, videos, writings, etc)
  • A person who may be accessing or in possession of child sexual abuse content
  • A sexual (intimate) image/video has been (or may be) shared without permission
  • A person is communicating through technology with a child ( or an adult) to sexually victimize a child
  • An adult may be sexually abusing a child
  • A youth who is being forced (blackmailed) to send sexual images/videos
