The next municipal election may be more than three years away, but in Greater Sudbury, a decision has already been made on the voting process.

Issues with the server in the 2018 election caused the electronic voting to go offline and voting to be extended by one day.

Now, the city has decided to incorporate a mix of electronic and paper ballots for the next election.

In 2022, voters in the city will see the use of electronic voting throughout the entire voting period combined with paper ballots and electronic vote tabulators on Election Day.

A poll conducted after last fall's election revealed 78% of citizens were in favour of a mixed option.
