SUDBURY -- A 26-year-old man is facing drug trafficking charges after police seize over $14K of suspected fentanyl during a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of Sudbury.

It happened in McKerrow, near Espanola, Wednesday according to Const. Renee Lalonde of the Ontario Provincial Police Manitoulin detachment.

As a result, the man from Mississauga is facing 10 charges including drug trafficking after officers found approximately 28 grams of the opioid along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No word yet from police on the reason for the traffic stop.

OPP has clarified that the incident happened on Wednesday, not Thursday.
