Bridgette Hagen is undergoing several surgeries in Sudbury after being shot while working at Northern Credit Union in Wawa on Dec. 12, CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca has learned.

A shooter entered the branch where she worked on Mission Road around 11 a.m. and opened fire.

Hagen sustained serious injuries in the shooting and Ontario Provincial Police said they located a second person, who is believed to be the suspect, deceased.

Police did not say when or where the body was found and have not given any details on the shooter.

An online fundraising campaign was started Friday by a close friend of the Hagen family, Bob Cliffe.

In just over seven hours, more than $33,000 has been raised by 250 donors to support Bridgette and her family during her recovery.

She and her husband Kevin have two young daughters.

The Wawa branch on Mission Street will remain closed until further notice.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened by today’s shooting. Our thoughts are with the individual who was injured and we are providing support to them and their family," said Richard Adam, president and CEO of Northern Credit Union, is quoted as saying in the news release.

"The safety and wellbeing of our employees is our top priority and they will have our full assistance."
