Police in Elliot Lake say an intoxicated woman got out-of-control and bit an officer during a recent arrest.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, Ontario Provincial Police were called to an apartment on Paris Drive in Elliot Lake after an intoxicated woman refused to leave.

When officers arrived, they allegedly found a highly intoxicated woman standing at the entrance of the complex.

She is said to have been very uncooperative, yelling obscenities, being assaultive, and attempted to run away.

Police say while being placed under arrest, she bit the officer's foot through the boot, and continued being uncooperative and aggressive.

Now, a 25-year-old woman from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with assault, resisting arrest, failure to comply with a probation order, and breach of recognizance.

The accused is scheduled to be in Elliot Lake court on October 29 after being released on a promise to appear.
