All of the rocks have been thrown in the 2018 Ontario University Athletics Curling Championships in Sault Ste. Marie.

The championship titles were on the line Monday afternoon in Sault Ste. Marie, where Algoma University played host to the provincial tournament over the weekend.

No northern schools made the finals, but the event is being seen as a big success all the same.

Over the past five days, the city hosted 140 athletes, representing 15 different schools.

"It's been great. We've loved our time in the Sault. Everyone has been super welcoming.” said Jessica Humphries of Brock University.

"It's been pretty good. Its felt a little bit repetitive, cause we've been in a groove the past few days and just been going with the flow and it's been working out for us." said Courtney Auld of Queens University.

"The big prize is the berth to head out and play for the national championship, right, and Ontario is one of the hardest school zones to get out of for sure. So it's big, it's hard. There are a lot of past and present junior champions playing right now too." said Parker Konschuh of Western University.

Tournament organizers, like Rachel Johnson, say this event wouldn't have been successful if it wasn't for the curling club volunteers.

"Absolutely, not a chance. I don't even know the number of volunteers that have walked through the club. There has been at least sixteen for every game and there have been 114 games over the course of the weekend. It's a pretty astonishing amount of support from the club.” said Johnson.

"It's been five days of pretty busy and intense curling. Lots of good games and the volunteers have been absolutely wonderful. Nobody has missed a shift for flu or cold yet." said volunteer, Eric Kirby.

This is the first time Algoma University has hosted the OUA Curling Championship.

Johnson says with how successful it's been she hopes the school is able to host the national championship in the next couple of years.

Brock University finished on top in the men's competition, while Laurier won the women's provincial title.  The top three on each side head to the national competition next month in Alberta.
