NORTH BAY -- The Ontario Provincial Police are trying to draw in new applicants for their Provincial Communications Centre in North Bay.

Carrie Trownson started out with a job at the PCC and now works as a Constable. She encourages others interested in careers with the OPP to apply.

"If you’re looking for a challenge, if you’re looking to make really good money and have a job that’s different every single day, with a group of people who absolutely have your back every single day, the job in the PCC is absolutely for you," said Trownson.

Patrick Fay, who currently works as a Communications Operator, wants to pursue a career as a police officer. He says his experience will help him in that field.

"I think that my experience here will be pretty invaluable to being out on the road. I’ll understand the processes better, I’ll understand the process of what happens here when a traffic stop is initiated, or whenever there’s a critical incident and they’re requesting other agencies, I understand what the process for that is. I think that speaking and dealing with people in crisis over the phone will help me do it in person quite a bit," said Fay.

The positions start at $33.39 per hour and although shift work is required, PCC Analyst Doug Sanders says there is no special police schooling or training is required.

"There’s no pre-requisite. You don’t need to have certain experience, you don’t need to have a certain education, there’s no pre-requisite that way. And as demonstrated, we come from all different backgrounds, we have a very diverse set of people in there and as long as you’re resilient, adaptable to change, you carry yourself professionally, we’re looking," said Sanders.

The OPP are looking for both English and bilingual operators.  They say to keep an eye on their Twitter and Facebook feeds for further information sessions. You can apply today at www.opp.ca
