SUDBURY -- A 26-year veteran of the Ontario Provincial Police has been charged in connection with a Nov. 22 collision in North Bay.

In a news release Wednesday, police said the collision involved three vehicles, include an OPP cruiser.

"The collision occurred at approximately 3:08 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 11 and Algonquin Avenue in the City of North Bay," police said. "An officer and one civilian were taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life threating injuries. Both individuals have since been released."

Police have now completed their investigation and the officer is charged with not stopping at a red light and proceeding before the light turned green, contrary to section 144(18) of the Highway Traffic Act.
