Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a suspicious death in Blind River, Ont. on Saturday.

Police were called after an unknown individual with no vital signs was left at the hospital in Blind River shortly after 10:30 a.m. July 6, OPP said in a news release.

"A postmortem examination will take place in Toronto to determine a cause of death," said police.

“More information will be provided when it becomes available.”

OPP officials told CTV News that anytime police are called in relation to a sudden death, they will conduct an investigation regarding the cause, sometimes in conjunction with the coroner's office.

“(This) investigation is in its early stages,” said the OPP.

“The East Algoma OPP Crime Unit is continuing with the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.”

Provincial police are asking anyone with information about the deceased or the incident at the hospital on Saturday morning to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers.
