OPP investigating fatality at Barrick Gold Mine in Marathon, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police in Marathon is investigating after a 48-year-old man died at Barrick Gold Mine on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Troy Cameron of Marathon, police said in a news release Thursday.

Police have not released details of the incident, which took place around 9:55 p.m. July 14 at Barrick Gold, located about 44 kilometres east of Marathon.

"Police attended the scene and were advised by medical staff that the victim was deceased," the release said.

"An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death has been initiated by the Marathon OPP in conjunction with the Ontario Ministry of Labour."

A post-mortem will be conducted in Toronto in order to confirm the cause of death.
