SUDBURY -- Police are investigating the death of a boater from Killarney whose boat was allegedly found capsized in Georgian Bay on the weekend.

At 2:20 p.m. Saturday, the Nipissing West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a person who was concerned about an overturned vessel seen on a shoal in the area known as "The Chickens," at the mouth of Beaverstone Bay.

In a news release, police said the individual was on their way to check on the boat and located the boater before officers arrived.

Kevin Boggs, 66, from Baltzly Island in Killarney was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPP marine unit from Manitoulin Island and the Canadian Coast Guard were called in to help.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Sudbury.

Foul play is not suspected, but the investigation is continuing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
