SUDBURY -- In the early morning hours of June 5, a suspect driving a red SUV fled police after multiple attempts by officers to engage the driver.

At approximately 4:00a.m. on June 5, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North Bay detachment were conducting general patrol in the area of the Mattawa, Ont. marina. 

Officers approached a vehicle and after multiple attempts to engage the driver, the suspect fled the scene, striking the OPP cruiser as it headed eastbound on Highway 17.

Police describe the suspect as a white male between the age of 35-45 years old, approximately 5'8"-6' and 130lbs with brown eyes and a scar on the palm of his left hand.

According to police, the suspect was operating a 2002 red Chevrolet Blazer, with the Alberta license plate number CGD4615. It will have damage to driver's side and a broken driver's side window.

The OPP is requesting the public's assistance to locate this individual. If anyone sees this suspect or the vehicle, do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately.
